We will discover tools and helpful hints for finding Biblical principles along with personal application of God’s Word. We will also learn how to practice God’s Word. Let’s be “doers” of God’s Word and not just “hearers”.

Boundary Setting: Your “no” is OK!

How do you feel when someone tells you no? How do you feel about telling someone no? Usually, when the word “no” is being used, it is to set a limit; or a boundary. But what is a boundary? When we set a boundary, we are simply communicating our needs for a healthy interaction with someone else. It is meant to create a sense of safety in a relationship NOT change the behaviors of others. Setting boundaries can be hard though, and in certain relationships, we may be inclined to let others push past and disrespect them. But have you ever considered that by not holding healthy boundaries, you may be preventing yourself from being who God has created you to be? While it doesn’t always feel safe to be honest in our earthly relationships, we can always be honest with God. Our relationship with Him, should be an example of what a relationship with mutual healthy boundaries can be. God respects our boundaries, so why should we not expect the same of others in our lives?So how do we learn to set healthy (and biblical) boundaries in our relationship with others? How do we know a “good boundaries” from a “bad boundary”? And how should we respond when the people in our lives don’t like the boundaries we have in place?
